Post-Divorce, End-of-Relationship, and Life Transition Counseling in Denver
If you’re ready to get started, please contact me for a free 15-minute phone consultation. I’ll ask you some questions about your current situation and what you’re hoping for, and we’ll see if we’re a good “fit” to work together in person. Please click here to contact me, or call 720-339-4744, and I’ll get back to you to set up a time.
Are you struggling to move beyond your divorce, separation, or relationship breakup ? Are you longing for an increasingly fulfilling and meaningful life, with more room for the things you truly value and an end to the feeling of being stuck in your old patterns?
I can help you navigate your transition in a way that leads to long-term personal growth, insight, and wisdom. I offer life transition counseling for post-divorce and end-of-relationship issues and career counseling in two Denver locations (Highlands and Cherry Creek).
If you find yourself with any of these questions, counseling may be for you:
- A feeling of being overwhelmed by the circumstances and/or emotions related to your divorce, breakup, job or work situation, or other major change in your life
- Feeling trapped in your current situation
- Feeling like you’re emotionally “just getting by”
- Stress from having to pretend you’re feeling good when you’re really not
- Feeling like no one seems to understand what you’re going through
- Pressure to “be someone you’re not” at work
- A desire to move beyond your current stresses into a better place, but no idea how to go about this process
- Feeling like you just don’t “fit in” with traditional career or job roles, yet you can’t find anything else or don’t know where to begin
- An overall sense that your current situation is not personally sustainable, or a fear of burning out or stagnating
- A longing to more closely align your work and lifestyle with your values, but a sense that you don’t have the time or energy

How does the counseling process work?
While it’s not possible to outline the exact steps in this highly individualized process, here are some of the things you can expect from our work together:
-
If you are interested in talking to me about my counseling services in the Denver area, please call and leave a message on my voice mail (720-339-4744). When I return your call, we will have an opportunity to talk for 15 to 20 minutes at no charge. These introductory phone calls are important because they give us a chance to introduce ourselves and get a feel for whether working together might be beneficial for you. If we both agree that it would be good to meet in person, we will set up an appointment time at my office (Northwest Denver or Cherry Creek).
- We will generally spend the first session getting acquainted. This will give me an opportunity to find out more about what has brought you into counseling and will give you a chance to get a feel for our “rapport” and to ask me questions. In this session, we will talk about your goals for counseling and collaboratively develop a plan. Of course, it is entirely up to you whether you want to schedule subsequent sessions. However, please know that this is a process that typically takes people more than one or two sessions.
- Depending on your needs and desires, sessions may include:
- Conversations that can help you: figure out better strategies to cope with stress and anxiety; set realistic goals for the present while keeping an eye on your larger dreams; gain a more clear understanding of what happened in your relationship and what you can learn from this experience; clarify your ideas, goals, and passions; understand the factors (both psychological and concrete) that may be standing in the way of the changes you want to make.
- Mindfulness practices to help you reduce stress and become more clear about your present-moment reality; mindfulness can be a very helpful tool not only in stress reduction but also in clarifying your desires and setting realistic goals.
- Dream work: Dreams can bring up some very interesting information, and you might choose to explore them in your sessions.
- Exercises with art, music, or nature to help you reduces stress and connect with your deeper values and with the world.
- Personality and interest assessments, when appropriate: I am qualified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory.
- My hourly fee is $90. I accept checks and cash.
I look forward to helping you move past your divorce or breakup and achieve the life you are longing for!
